The Weeping Elephant

Taking advantage of the silence during the pandemic, Favas.net took time to experience the beautiful elephant sculpture by the artist Jantien Mook. Her ‘The Wheeping Elephant’ is situated at the banks of the IJ water in Amsterdam (accompanied by the light sculptures of Maik ter Veer), very close to our workspace. Van Mook’s meticulous sculpture of an African elephant is part of her ongoing project ‘Ode to the Wilderness’ that she uses “to find a connection between ‘our world’ and our true nature to embrace all living beings.” ‘The Weeping Elephant’ is travelling through Europe. This month still in Amsterdam ‘The Weeping Elephant’ has been travelling through Europe (e.g. Rotterdam, Brussels, Ghent, Hamburg, Bremen).
