Jakarta’s congested traffic
This month (August 17: ‘Tujuhbelasan’, the Seventeenth’) Indonesia celebrates its 80th anniversary of independence. A good time to report (again) on our research into the social and environmental conditions in Jakarta, i.e. various characteristics of space and mobility. Two years ago as a prologue to our investigation, we asked by way of a sample a few residents of Jakarta for their opinion on the environmental quality of the city (see this news item). Recently (a few weeks ago) our friend Martine Soffers viewed for Favas.net the congested traffic situation on various sites in Jakarta. Traffic congestion is one of the topics addressed in our recently launched analysis of the performance of public transport, specifically Transjakarta, the bus rapid transit system in the Indonesian capital.
