Seefhoek neighbourhood inspected
Opportunities for a rich future in the Antwerp neighbourhood of Seefhoek. This month, during our fifteenth anniversary, Favas.net returned to Antwerp (Belgium), one of the cities from our previous urban tour of Europe (see last month’s news item – November 2024). We inspected the Seefhoek neighbourhood, which is considered by many to be an abandoned and neglected place just northeast of the city centre. A neighbourhood where, according to a common perception, there is unsafety, but where others recognize a multi-coloured neighbourhood with numerous social, cultural and economic opportunities and potential. Favas.net shares this positive view of Seefhoek, without ignoring the social problems and safety issues. Seefhoek was once a Flemish working-class neighbourhood, but in recent decades it has changed into a place with over a hundred nationalities. During our walk (along Korte Zavelstraat and Handelstraat) we mainly saw opportunities for a rich future.
