The Cycling Community is not an organization but offers a knowledge base and platform for scientists, designers, publicists and all other people who want to share, disseminate and apply their knowledge.

How can we create cycling-oriented cities?
Five conclusions (‘lessons’) were presented in several Japanese cities during a joint Path Finding Mission of the Dutch Cycling Embassy and the Dutch Ministry of Transport (May 2022). Download the highlight in Kyoto where the presentation was combined with an official reception by the mayor.
Utrecht (Netherlands), August 10, 2023 – Representatives of the Shizuoka Prefecture (Japan) visited the Dutch Cycling Embassy to learn about cycling and enhancement of their tourist economy. Using the Dutch case of Schiermonnikoog island, the factors that support bicycle-based tourism were presented: framing landscape qualities, availability of all sorts of (rental) bicycles, nice infrastructure & facilities, backed by public transport, excellent information, branded cycling culture & other features like nature & food.
Cycling Community research projects format
Some important projects are documented in a fixed format that includes the so-called ‘Matrix’.
Some cities have succeeded in having higher levels of cyclist shares in everyday trips than the others. To understand this, it is important to have a closer look at the cities with a successful cycling culture (e.g. Amsterdam) and those with relatively less success in cycling (e.g. Milan).
Italian City Cycling Assessment
The research entails questions regarding basic information of the state of the art cycling in Italy, and particularly in some featured cities, like Milan, Rome and some smaller cities, including Bari and its region of Puglia.
